GRAPHIC EYE MAKEUP LOOK
Truthfully speaking, I’m not into trends. I’m more drawn to a classic look. That said, the holidays can be the perfect time for trying something a bit more dramatic and there’s no better (or more on-trend) way to accomplish this va va voom than with a graphic eye makeup look. And naturally, if we’re talking eyeliner, no one does it better than goddess and Hollywood icon, Sophia Loren.
Here, my modern take on a retro cat-eye, fusing today’s trends with yesteryear’s glamour. Continuing reading for details on the look!
Before jumping boldly into the world of graphic liner, make sure you know your eye shape. For my already almond-shaped eyes, I’m careful to make sure my feline flick is not too overdone. Start slow and take note of the line—and always have spare Make-Up Eraser Sticks on hand for touch-ups!
ALMAY LIQUID LINER: For my Graphic Eye Makeup Look, I lined my upper eye line with a thick stroke, gradually coming to a point to get that feline flick à la Loren. On my lower lash line, I extended the bottom liner outwards for more drama.
ALMAY GEL SMOOTH LINER: To get the intense crease, I used Almay Black Gel liner, following my natural crease lightly before intensifying the darkness towards the inside corner of the eye. Then I used a small pointed brush to blend a little along the outer edge of the crease, giving it a subtle, gradual end. Pro tip: Make sure your lids are powdered and not at all oily for easy application and longevity. For a party look, add a touch of sparkle over the top as a finishing touch. You can add the Almay Velvet Foil Cream Shows over the crease if you want a subtle pop of metallic glam!
BENEFIT COSMETICS BADgal BANG: For major volumized lashes, this is my current go-to mascara. I wanted to create a full and dramatic lash look to complement the eyeliner. Just one coat of mascara for the bottom lashes and 2-3 coats for the top is all you need. No falsies required—this mascara is that good!
ALMAY BROW PENCIL SHADE UNIVERSAL TAUPE: Lately, my brow game has been particularly strong and it is because I’ve spared them from excessive tweezing. For sparser areas, I use the Almay Brow Pencil to get the most natural-looking brows. This shade is universal too, so anyone can have polished arches.
LIPS & CHEEKS
MAC LIP PENCIL SPICE: If you have been following along for a while, you will have noticed that I use this lipliner a lot. I like to line my lips using this pencil and then I lightly shade them in. For more definition, I go over the lipliner base with a nude-pink lipstick.
ALMAY LIP VIBES SKIP THE GYM: They should rename this lipstick to “Perfect Shade of a Nude Pink” because that’s what I am currently calling it when people ask me what I’m wearing. This is probably my newest favorite lipstick. The formula is creamy, moisturizing and conditioning to the lips, not to mention the color payoff is out of this world.
KEVYN AUCOIN THE MATTE BRONZING VEIL DESERT DAYS: I am always on the hunt for good matte bronzers because I don’t always like to have a shimmer in the hollows of my cheekbones. I dusted Kevyn Aucoin’s matte bronzer all over for a glow and to lightly contour. I opted out of blush for this makeup look. Sometimes it’s ok to skip it!
CHANEL HIGHLIGHTING POWDER COMPACT 10 IVORY GOLD: Just as bronzers are not all created equal, the same can be said of highlighter. I just added this product into both my personal kit and my artist kit because it’s the perfect glow. It truly is illuminating on the face. I use it sparingly in areas that I want light to reflect, which in this case is just along the cheekbones.
