Famous for accessible cosmetics that enhance natural beauty, Bobbi Brown is an inspiration of mine, both as a makeup artist and as a business woman. It was with Bobbi Brown that I entered the beauty arena, freelancing as a makeup artist at the brand’s counter in Northern California back when I was just shy of 18 years old. Still at the beginning of my career, I was so moved by the brand’s position on beauty to celebrate uniqueness and embrace imperfection. Bobbi Brown’s inclusive approach to makeup has revolutionized the industry. The brand not only pioneered more flattering, yellow-based foundations, it introduced more shades to the market so that women of every skin color could find their perfect match.

The Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick is no exception to the artist’s unparalleled mastery of the base game. It is designed to look and feel like skin, using a creamy-but- lightweight formula that controls oil and corrects discoloration with a medium to full coverage base. It leaves the skin feeling moisturized and softens the fine lines that are exaggerated by other foundations. Plus, it wears all day long, which is important to me as an artist. Even more important I love that the Skin Foundation Sticks are multi-use. You can use them as concealer, foundation, contour and highlight.

Keeping with the Bobbi Brown aesthetic, I decided to create a Groomed Minimalism Makeup look that honors the brand’s promise to create comprehensive, effective makeup. This look, which features the cult favorite Skin Foundation Stick, is universally flattering with a finish that is sleek and understated.

Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick: I am obsessed with this foundation, both on myself and on my clients. The formula is so buildable, blends seamlessly and looks like skin, not makeup, after application.

Pro tip: I choose a deeper shade and a lighter shade from the collection (there are 31 skin tone shades to select from—wow!) to use as a contour and a concealer shade, respectively. Because the formula is so versatile, there is really no wrong way to use it. I used Natural Tan 4.25 for coverage only in the areas that needed to even my skintone. I used another foundation stick in shade Natural 4 as a concealer. For some minimal chiseling action, I use shade Cool Almond 7.25.

Brows & Eyes

Smashbox Brow Tech To Go: I love a product that you can use multiple ways, but I love a product even more when there is two products in ONE. Fill in your brows on one side and gel them in place using the other end. Perfect for the person who is on-the-go!

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow: Use your finger to apply the shadow in shade Bone onto your lids for color that will stay all day without creasing. It’s a great shadow to wear as a base and an essential for your beauty wardrobe.

MAC Soft Brown Eyeshadow: I’ve been wearing this shadow FOREVER! I apply this on my crease and blend, blend, blend until diffused. It’s so soft, easy to wear and perfect for a polished, simple look.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner: I am never without this product. It is always in my makeup bag and artist’s kit. The liner effortlessly glides onto the lash line and sets quickly (and once it dries, it does not budge!). I love it for a tight line, cat eye, dramatic wing and even as a smokey base, but this look is about something more modest. I recommend applying it with the Ultra Fine Eyeliner brush, also by Bobbi Brown.

Blush, Highlighter & Lips

Bobbi Brown Blush: Tawny is the perfect shade for all year round, which is what makes it a staple in my beauty wardrobe. A little goes a long way (one swipe for both cheeks) and it stays on all day.

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder Pink Glow: Even understated makeup requires some highlighter. Skin should always glow! I’ve set aside bronzer for the moment and I’m using a a champagne pink color to add some dimension to the face.

Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color Brocade: My favorite lipstick are the ones that can be worn in different ways.

Hi beautiful! This look is perfect! I wanted to purchase the brocade lipstick but it seems much darker than the color in your photo. What’s your trick to applying it? Thank you

    • Kira Nasrat says:

Hi Sabrina! Thank you! Glad you liked this look 🙂 The trick is to dab on the lipstick to give it more of a stained effect. Just makeup sure your lips are hydrated before applying. I apply the lipstick this way I have control over how deep I want the shade. You can always build the color to your satisfaction. Hope this helped! let me know if you have any other questions! xo
