The Hottest Pink Lipsticks
I had long resisted it, but I must admit that I love a hot pink lip. It’s a gutsy look, even for a makeup artist, but I’ve learned to just go for it…Stepping outside your comfort zone is more fun. It’s just makeup after all. So what’s my go-to hue and secret to pulling off a hot pink lip? Lipstick Queen’s Private Party is the epitome of luxury and glamour. The chic, gold packaging drew me in, the peppermint scent kept me intrigued, but it’s the formula that got me hooked. It’s a lightweight, but moisturizing matte (which I prefer for a bright lip) that gives the most dramatic color payoff. The shade itself is a deeper pink- still bright, bordering on a transitional red shade (I’m still playing it safe, I suppose) but it’s plenty hot and best of all, it works for me and most skin tones.
So, here is my secret- be bold and brave, go big or go home! Try and match your cheek color to your lip, staying in that pink range and keeping the eyes minimal focusing on lashes. If you’re like me and need a little feline flick- go for it. I love a corner cat eye. To find your own perfect pink, you’ll want to devote some time to trial and error. To kick off your research, I’ve compiled a list of the most well-rounded bold and hot pinks I’ve found (and which are all currently in my kit).

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Color in Boudoir, Satin-Matte
This is a great option for those who are still on the fence about matte lipsticks, as the berry pink adds just enough sheen to your pout, but with all the lasting power of a matte. This one tends to be the biggest hit with my clients. It’s a deeper pink and so flattering on almost every skin tone.
Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick in Electric Poppy, Soft-Matte
You have to try this color. The vivid cerise is truly luminous! Like all of the lipsticks mentioned, this shade looks brilliant with just a single, sheer coat if you are still easing into pinks. Double coat it if you’re feeling fancy.
NARS Audacious Lipstick in Michiyo, Creamy
I tend to prefer mattes, but this is the exception. I love this creamy texture for the way it makes the magenta color shine. Rookies, take note: This is the ultimate hot pink. (And it is a stunner!)
Make Up For Ever Artist Plexi-Gloss #209, Glossy
This highly pigmented lip gloss gives a beautiful lacquered effect to the lips. It’s high-shine formula allows the fuschia color to stay put, which is a must for me. I hate when lip gloss gets all over.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bella, Creamy Matte
I’m normally not a liquid lipstick kind of girl, but when I do feel the urge, I always use this formula. Apply it one layer at a time to get the most of the full-coverage, highly pigmented bright pink. And just as you would any matte lip, be sure to moisturize your lips in advance!
Tom Ford Beauty Lips & Boys in Justin 27
Another hit amongst my clients is this lipstick by Tom Ford. It’s color-pop of fuchsia shade has cool undertones and glides on smoothly with a shimmering finish. I really believe it’s popular not only because the color payoff and texture, but because it’s a mini lipstick so it’s easier for them to throw in their clutch for red carpets!
Rodin Lip Wardrobe in Winks, Creamy Matte
Currently a favorite of mine for it’s 11 nourishing oils – it’s creamy, but delivers long-lasting color with a smooth matte finish. I told you I love a matte lip. This one I like to put on my fair or olive skin tone clients. Sometimes I’ll add a little of this onto the apples of the cheeks to tie the beauty look. It’s a softer hot pink.
