Nothing is more suitable for a Spring Soirée than a wash of bright colors.
Experimenting with complementary hues keeps makeup fresh and fun. This look is all about keeping the bright colors subdued and gentle with just a wash of pigment. Pops of color are always welcomed, makeup or accessories- or both! For the details of my current go-to spring soiree makeup look, read on.
Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick in Orchid is a light wash of elegant lavender that makes any color eyes sparkle not to mention it lasts all day, crease proof even in the heat. For extra oomph, I added a touch of NARS Hardwired Eyeshadow in Lunar to make the lilac color more dramatic. To finish the eyes, curl the lashes and apply two coats of Diorshow Iconic mascara for fluttering, full fringe.
Cheek & Lip
I love the gentle brilliance of Sisley’s Phyto Touche Sun Glow bronzer on my skintone. It gives my skin a lovely radiance without being too overpowering—perfect for the easy-going spring season. I like using a kabuki brush and apply it lightly in circular motion so everything is blended. Not to detract from the eye and lip combination, I opted for something buildable and blendable on the cheeks with Lilah B.’s Lip & Cheek Duo in Daring. Don’t be fooled by the highly pigmented color in the pot—the end result is a wash of color that can be layered from a faint flush to a vibrant coral. For double the intensity, layer up with By Terry’s Hyaluronic blush in Bubble Glow. The light-reflecting mother of pearl adds a stunning highlight to the cheeks. These are staples in my beauty wardrobe.
To finish off my spring soirée makeup look, I went for a punch of coral on the lips. Why not? Chanel’s Lipstick in Excentrique comes alive on the lips and complements the lavender eye perfectly. Swipe the color directly from the bullet and smudge gently with your finger to diffuse the color. Pro tip, emphasis more in the inside-center of the lip for depth. Add the shine back to the lips with a layer of Chanel’s Douceur gloss on top to complete the lip.
Less clothes, brighter makeup—that is my springtime philosophy. Right now I’m into ruffles, bows and tassels. Not sure if this is just a phase, but currently I’m a girlie-girl. I found these Zimmerman pieces and they’re perfect for a spring soiree or a garden party and can carry you right into the summer. I like pairing this look with sandals for day and heels for night. Mine shown below are flats with straps that tie up the ankle from J Crew. These ones are a couple of years old. Did I mention they have silk tassels?
My earrings are beaded tassels- really in right now! Don’t you love them? I found mine in my sisters closet and they are by Oscar de la renta. I love pops of bright colors. Every outfit needs a purse that complements it. Mine is in the same color family, but brighter. I tuck the chain strap inside so I can use it as a clutch- it’s by Chanel and super versatile.
As the finishing touch, lightly mist Byredo’s Gypsy Water perfume on the pulse points. This crisp, clean fragrance evokes all the feelings of springtime with one easy spritz. Currently one of my favorites and best of all my husband loves when I wear this!
