My schedule rarely allows for a mid-day wardrobe change so my look has to work seamlessly for me…
A transitional wardrobe should be two things: comfortable and versatile. It should take you from a mid day coffee date with your girlfriends to drinks at Tower Bar without a single adjustment. Make your wardrobe work for you by investing in the right basics and you’ll find that all you’ll need to go from a coffee date to a dinner is a lipstick touch-up!
The Blazer + A White Button-Up
A flattering blazer will instantly elevate any outfit—even a plain white tee. I like a classic silhouette in a fun, statement color to add some oomph. On any given day-to-night, you’ll see me with my mint blue, double-breasted Balmain blazer draped over my shoulders.
Right up there with your favorite LBD, a classic, white blouse is the most essential wardrobe staple. The simplicity of it makes it effortlessly chic and flexible to style for any time of day. I own so many, but my favorite is from Equipment- I l just love the way they fit.
Leather leggings defy all the rules of day versus nighttime attire—they work all the time, with just about any look. A good pair is hard to find so when you come across one you love don’t think twice- get them. Everyone needs a pair! (Mine are by Helmut Lang and I’ve had for years.)
Heels + Handbag
The cherry on top of a perfect outfit is a statement bag. Anything with hidden details like mine: closed, it looks serious and refined, but when you open… two googly-eyes peek out! How could I say no to a bag with lashes? It’s like this Giancarlo Petriglia bag was made for me.
I don’t mind rocking a heel throughout the day, especially if I know there is not a lot of walking involved and going to be taking this outfit into the evening. As long as they are comfortable and my pedicure is on point, I’m sold! I love an open toe (if the weather permits, of course.) You can’t go wrong in Alaia.
