My Off Duty Style
It’s hard to imagine that a makeup artist would forgo glamour in her day-to-day, but when I’m not working or getting gussied up for date night, I prefer a more relaxed look. I take casual very seriously—I’ve even been known to show up to brunch with last night’s mascara and lipstick swatch tests still on the back of my hand. It may speak to the products’ longevity, but not for my hand… or my soul. My off duty style has challenged me to think of ways to inject a little http://drscottconsulting.com/ va va voom into my look, even when I am off the clock.
I believe that when you look good, you feel good—but you should never sacrifice comfort. I avoid clothes that restrict me from talking with my hands and I carry products that I can easily apply with my fingers. When I’m prepping a client for the red carpet, I’m all business. But when I’m off-the-clock, it’s time to mellow out and enjoy myself- some low key glam. Heading out to daytime brunch with the girls, I look something like this:
Maison Michel
One of my favorite hat makers is by Maison Michel. I get such good milage from mine. I wear it so much. I’ll be honest: I can get lazy when it comes to doing my hair on my off days. Who needs to when this hat is so chic? I love anything in grey so you can imagine when I came across this one I didn’t think twice about getting it. I also have it in black and it goes with everything.
Vince Grey Criss Cross Sweater
Fitted in all the right places and ever-so-slightly revealing with the criss-crossed plunging neckline, this top makes me feel like a million bucks. I never thought a sweater could make me feel so sexy! I tend to wear loose fitted clothing in general. I dress this up with a loose fitted skirt or with denim shorts. Super versatile!
Sisley-Paris Phyto-Touche Bronzer
As you can imagine I’ve tried a lot of bronzers in my lifetime. Currently I have fallen in love with this one. It’s gel-powder texture allows the product to glide on the skin easily and it doesn’t feel as though you’re wearing anything on your face. It gives me the perfect sun kissed glow. I like to dust this on the planes of my face where the sun would normally hit (including a little on the eyelids and brow bone—very important!) for an instant boost. A good bronzer is like coffee, it can make you look wide awake. I don’t always feel well-rested, but this helps me look it. What’s so great about this bronzer aside from the chic packaging and that it can be easily applied with my fingers? It has a soft focus effect which means it’s flattering even in photos. Bonus!
Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink Lipstick
Even on those off-duty days, I like a little rouge for some low-key glam. I always prep my lip with a balm so that the lipstick goes on better and does not look dry. I gently dab the lipstick on my top and bottom lip for just a little color. I don’t coat it on, less is more for me because my lips are already naturally a pink. This nude-pink works well with my skin tone. In fact- it looks beautiful on other complexions too. It’s not only a part of my beauty wardrobe, but also in my artist kit.
Long Black Skirt by The Row
Just like bronzers, I’ve tried a lot of long black skirts and this one seems to flatter me the most. I’m all about the cut- it’s so important! I invested in this one by The Row and I’m glad I did because now it’s forever part of my off duty style. I wear it all the time! It’s easy to throw on and ultra-feminine, a black, loose-fitted skirt is a no-brainer for relaxed days. Dress it up or down. Everyone should have a long black skirt in their wardrobe that fits perfectly. It’s an essential for an off-duty style.
Goyard Clutch + Gucci Princeton Leather Slipper
I have a thing for oversized clutches—it dresses an outfit up and fits my entire life in it. But most importantly I can use this clutch all year round. It’s my favorite and I bought it in Paris a year ago. My Gucci fur loafers are so perfect for my off days because I can slide them on easily and they keep my toes warm which is a plus. They are a staple in my wardrobe and I wish they made them in grey too! Hint, hint…

Kira, I wanted to swing by and let you know I am loving your blog. Please keep it up! The images are clear and captivating. Your posts are well written, and your voice is coming through the screen. Not to mention, your tips are excellent. Blogging is tough work — I remember how much time it took me to prepare content and write my blog posts (for my short-lived interior decor blog;). I fully appreciate what you’re putting out in the universe. Thank you for sharing your world with us!
Thank you so much Yelda 🙂 That means a lot and I truly appreciate it! I’m so happy you are enjoying it! XO
