Stay Stylish, Stay Warm…
Inside this California girl beats the heart of an East Coaster. I love all of the seasons, but especially winter in New York City—there is nothing more magical. Case and point: During my last visit to the Big Apple, it snowed unexpectedly! On the morning of the day I planned to shoot my winter outfits, I woke up to find white powder covering everything in sight. Completely unplanned and absolutely wonderful, and luckily, I was prepared.
The tricky thing about packing for a work trip (and especially when I’m packing bulky winter clothes) is finding space in my luggage. I tend to focus more on my makeup kit than I do on my outfits and I don’t often leave room for multiple wardrobe changes throughout my trip. Instead, I pack with versatility in mind, selecting pieces that can easily transition from day to night—after all, I’m not in NYC just for work.
Bring on the wool coats and the cashmere turtlenecks—anything and everything that is cozy-chic! What did I pack? Here are some of my current winter wardrobe staples:
All Black Everything
I can’t go to NYC and not wear head-to-toe black—it’s practically the uniform. I found this black beret at City Hats in NYC. The sweater dress is by Equipment and if I could, I would live in it. My boots (by Aquazarra) zip on the side but have a lace up detail in the front and are super comfortable to wear all day. My stockings are from Nordstrom. The seam down the back adds some subtle sexiness, which I’m really into. My coat was a steal on sale from Alice & Olivia—don’t you love when that happens? Finally, my bag is by Bottegga Veneta—another fab purchase that I wear constantly.
I love the cut and color of this turtleneck by Vince. To give it more shape, I like to tuck it slightly into my high waisted, wide leg pants. Speaking of which, these are longtime favorites of mine by Theory. I love a monotone outfit—even my Manolo Blahniks (BB 105mm heel) are taupe! My hat is from H&M and my gloves are by Club Monaco, all bought a while ago, but I’ve listed some dupes here. My clutch is by Goyard. The grey color goes with everything and I am able to get so much use of it.
A Pop Of Pink
As much as I love muted colors, I fancy a bold look now and then. Hot pink pants and a fuschia-red top—it’s a color combination that I’m always so drawn to, but haven’t had the guts to pull off until now. Both pieces are by Oscar de la Renta. I threw my black coat over it because, well, I was cold! And you just can’t go wrong with a pair of black leather pumps. Mine are by Bottegga Veneta, as is my much-loved clutch (told you I wear this a lot).
I’m now back in Los Angeles and I have to say I’m already missing the cold. Hopefully the weather will start to cool down so I can continue wearing my winter wardrobe! Feel free to share below how you stay stylish in the winter.
